Allie Wills

Allie believes that therapy is a healing process in which we find the parts of ourselves that need healing to get to who we want to be and how we want to live. She believes that everyone has the ability to create those changes. In her work as a therapist, she focuses on providing a safe space and joining her clients in this work, because she believes that much of healing needs to happen in relationship.

Her approach is relational, person-centered, and trauma-informed. That means she thinks the therapeutic relationship can be a means of healing, that the client gets to lead the process, and that she is aware of how much of an impact trauma can have. She also works from a systems perspective, meaning that she thinks the family, culture, and other systems people belong to strongly frame the way they interact with the world. She is compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative.

She is passionate about working with LGBTQI+ people, adolescents, spirituality, trauma, and dissociative disorders. She is trained in pastoral counseling techniques and happy to explore spiritual elements with those who are interested. She also has experience working with people with depression, bipolar disorder, self-injury, anxiety, and psychosis. As a third-culture kid herself, she loves working with third-culture kids.

Allie is a licensed clinical professional counselor. She received her master’s degree in clinical-counseling psychology from Illinois State University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology and French from the University of Michigan. She has worked for community mental health agencies, SASS (Screening, Assessment, and Support Services), a hospice, and a domestic violence shelter. She’s done on-call crisis work with children and teens who are suicidal, aggressive, self-injurious, runaway, or locked out. She works with people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, faiths, and disabilities.
